A few hours after the PGA of America announced Phil Mickelson would not defend his PGA championship title, this tournament offers strong indications that Tiger Woods will golf on Southern Hills.
Tiger Woods is registered in the Pre-Ku-Association Interview List scheduled at 1:00 at night. ET on Tuesday. If Woods competes, it will be the second major championship because he almost lost his right foot in a single car accident in February 2021.
Tournament purse set at $12 million
Tiger Woods officially returned to competition in April at the Masters, finishing in 47th place. Shortly after, he held an 18-hole practice round at the Southern Hills Championship Course.
Southern Hills is also where Woods won the 2007 PGA Championship, his most recent in this major. Woods also won at Southern Hills in 1999, 2000 and 2006. The tournament purse is set at $12,000,000.
