Emma Raducanu is back hitting balls on a tennis court, but there’s something unusual about her latest training regime.
The 20-year-old is trying to work her way back to full fitness following a wrist injury and took to Instagram to post a video of her on court. However, in the clip she could be seen using only her left hand.
The injury to her right wrist, saw Raducanu end her first full season on the WTA Tour early and was forced to pull out of the Transylvania Open and Billie Jean King Cup in Glasgow.
Fans will be pleased to see Raducanu back on court and she seemed excited to be back on training again, posting the word ‘“tnnsssss!!!!” in the Instagram story.
The injury has been been another setback in what has been a frustrating year for the British star, who suffered a disrupted season thanks to Covid, before enduring a series of muscle issues, blisters and back problems.
She is now looking to improve her fitness as she copes with life on tour, after a year that has seen her finish with a negative 17-18 record, and has enlisted the help of Andy Murray’s former strength coach Jez Green.
The world number 75 is currently preparing for an exhibition match against Ons Jabeur in an Abu Dhabi next month, but will unlikely risk playing if her wrist hasn’t healed.
However, Raducanu still has time to make sure she’s match ready for the start of the 2023 campaign, with her first scheduled event of next year being January’s Auckland’s ASB Classic.
