Los Angeles Lakers All-Star power forward LeBron James appears to be spending his day off in between bouts in San Antonio yesterday (a win) and in L.A. against the Pacers Monday checking out some action around the league, in addition to his usual Sunday diet of NFL games. James seems to have been watching the 10-11 Brooklyn Nets’ 111-97 win over the Portland Trail Blazers this afternoon.

As he has been wont to do, James tweeted his appreciation for one of a rival team’s best shooters, in this case 6’2″ Nets backup shooting guard Seth Curry:

In 28:40 off the bench, Curry shot a sparkling 11-of-15 from the floor (73.3%), including 7-of-10 from beyond the arc, for a total of 29 points. For the season, Stephen Curry’s little brother is averaging 9.6 points on .427/.383/.889 shooting splits across just 22.5 minutes a night.

He is nailing that 38.3% of his triples on 4.7 takes per game. For his career, Curry is converting an elite 43.8% of his 4.4 three-pointers per.

Earlier this season, James made headlines when he appeared to criticize the personnel surrounding himself and Anthony Davis on this 2022-23 Lakers squad, noting that the team lacked enough knockdown shooters. L.A. currently ranks 28th in league-wide team three-point percentage at 31.9%, per ESPN. Los Angeles also ranks 28th in three-point attempts taken, with 30.

Curry, 32, is currently in the last year of a four-year, $32 million contract he initially signed while still with the Dallas Mavericks. Two trades later, he is earning $8.5 million during the expiring season of the deal. Would the Nets be willing to ship Curry out to the Lakers in exchange for, say, the contracts of veteran guards Kendrick Nunn and Dennis Schröder, plus some kind of second-round draft pick compensation? It could certainly help Los Angeles!

The Los Angeles Lakers’ clash with the San Antonio Spurs turned bloody on Saturday when Zach Collins elbowed Russell Westbrook in the third quarter, opening a big cut on the Lakers playmaker’s forehead.

Collins might have hit Westbrook inadvertently, but the referees ruled the play was reckless enough to eject the big man from the game. It also infuriated Westbrook, who quickly got up and wanted to confront Collins despite blood dripping down his face.

LeBron James stepped in, trying to calm down the 34-year-old guard and pulling him away from the Spurs center. He then grabbed a towel and pushed it against Westbrook’s forehead to stop the bleeding. After the game, Lakers head coach Darvin Ham praised James and Westbrook for handling the situation, saying they showed the togetherness Ham expects his players to embrace, via Spectrum SportsNet:

“I mean, you’re talking about two first-ballot Hall-of-Fame players, man, that know how to play the game of basketball, understand when it’s played the right way. They know how to play it. [They are] highly competitive individuals both on and off the floor. And at the end of the day, again, those three key words: competitiveness, togetherness and accountability. That’s what togetherness looks like. Being there for your teammate. [Westbrook] takes a shot to the head — and you don’t want to escalate the situation. You want to try to calm him down. You got a guy with blood all over his face who is understandably upset. And just having Bron there, it shows a brotherhood. We need that type of image, that action, that belief in one another. We need that to represent us as a team and as a franchise.”

Westbrook returned to the game after a brief visit to the locker room, helping the Lakers claim a 143-138 win over the Spurs. The victory was L.A.’s fifth in the last six games with the Purple and Gold improving to 7-11 on the season.

Westbrook unsure why he received technical in altercation with Collins

Even though Westbrook was the victim in the incident involving Collins, his initial reaction after taking the Spurs center’s elbow to his face earned the Lakers guard a technical foul. The ruling came as a surprise considering the situation quickly de-escalated and no punches were thrown.

Westbrook himself was unsure why the referees called a technical foul on him. “I wasn’t sure why I got one but you know, I’ll check with the league and talk to them about it and we’ll figure out why that was,” he said on Saturday.

“Maybe because I probably hopped up or something. Not sure. (Laughing). Maybe I got up too fast or something? I don’t know. But I’m going to check and find out.”

LeBron James helped the Los Angeles Lakers beat the San Antonio Spurs 105-94 on his return from a five-game injury lay-off.
James, sidelined by an adductor strain since 9 November, scored 21 points as the Lakers won their first away game of the season.

“I felt pretty good,” said James, who played 33 minutes at the AT&T Center.
“I’ve been non-stop around the clock [getting treatment] for the last couple of weeks to get back on the floor.”
He added: “My rhythm, my timing was a little off on a few of my passes. But I’ll be a lot better as the games go on.”

“He was moving great,” said Lakers coach Darvin Ham. “Obviously there’s going to be some rust there, but I thought he looked great.”

Anthony Davis scored 25 points for the Lakers as the Spurs suffered a seventh consecutive defeat.
The Boston Celtics beat the Sacramento Kings 122-104, the Golden State Warriors overcame the Utah Jazz 129-118, and the Milwaukee Bucks triumphed 117-102 against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

With the Los Angeles Lakers struggling to start the season, things only seemed to be getting worse when superstar LeBron James went down with a strained adductor muscle. Thankfully the Lakers were able to find a little rhythm without their leader and reel off a three-game win streak on the back of Anthony Davis, allowing head coach Darvin Ham and the staff to be extra cautious with LeBron getting back on the court.

But the question continues to be when James will return to the court as adding what he brings to the table, with the level Davis has been at could really allow for the Lakers to turn things around. And now it looks like a date has been set for that return.

During the Lakers’ contest against the Phoenix Suns, TNT’s Chris Haynes reported that James is expected to make his return in the Lakers’ next game on Friday night against the San Antonio Spurs:

James has not suited up since Nov. 10 when he left the court late with the adductor injury against the Los Angeles Clippers. He has missed five straight games, but thanks to Davis, the Lakers have gone 3-2 during that stretch. Now the team must figure out a way to continue that recent momentum once LeBron is back on the court.

James has been excellent this season, averaging 24.9 points, 8.8 rebounds and 6.7 assists. But with Davis playing at another level in the last four contests, many will be watching to see if he maintains that level of aggression with LeBron back on the floor, and James undoubtedly will do everything in his power to make sure Davis doesn’t let up either.

Even in his 20th NBA season, James remains one of the premier players in the league and the Lakers will no doubt be welcoming him back. With the team finally being at full strength, perhaps they can truly start building the necessary chemistry and get this season in order.

Gregg Popovich praises Lakers’ LeBron James for how he has dealt with criticism

Of course, LeBron is one of the greatest players in NBA history and dealt with a level of pressure from the moment he came in the league unlike anything anyone has ever seen. The criticism he has received throughout his career has been unfair at times and it is something that angered legendary Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, who recently praised LeBron for how he handled everything.

“If he made a pass, somebody said, ‘He should’ve shot it.’ If he shot the ball, it was, ‘He should’ve passed it.’ It really would anger me. They would just deal with the negative. It was a fake negative, in a way. The guy was doing everything great and handling himself great. Young kid with all of that attention and doing what he was doing.

“I just thought he was wonderful. It would just annoy me. Whenever I would be around him or whenever I had the chance, I would say it publicly. ‘Why don’t you guys talk to him?’ and ‘He did this; he did that.’ That’s what I remember the most — the way he handled himself in the middle of all of that. All of us, we don’t know what is to have that kind of attention and those kinds of demands.

“For something like him, I can’t even fathom. It was super.”

The House of Lords has heard a call for the Duke of York and the Duke of Sussex to be removed from being stand-ins for King Charles III – and for the Princess Royal and Earl of Wessex to be added.

Peers have debated plans for two extra “counsellors of state”.

But a Labour peer said Prince Andrew and Prince Harry, as non-working royals, should be taken off the list.

Lord Berkeley said the question of who was eligible to act for the King needed greater “transparency”.

Peers on Monday were debating the Counsellors of State Bill, which would widen the pool of royals who could carry out official duties if the King was overseas or ill.

Lord True, the Lord Privy Seal, said the proposal was a “practical solution” necessary for the “machinery of government” – and suggested only working royals would be called upon in practice.

This legislation would add two more, rather than remove any of the current five stand-ins – Camilla, the Queen Consort, the Prince of Wales, Prince Harry, Prince Andrew and his daughter Princess Beatrice.

Lord Berkeley supported the addition of Princess Anne and Prince Edward but he put forward an amendment that would exclude Prince Andrew and Prince Harry and any other non-working royals.

Counsellors of state should not include anyone who had not “undertaken royal duties on a regular basis” for the preceding two years, he proposed.

Prince Andrew withdrew from royal duties in the wake of his association with US sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Prince Harry, who lives with his family in the United States, has stepped back from being a “working royal”.

‘Quick fix’

Conservative peer Lord Balfe also argued Prince Harry’s status as a counsellor needed to be more clearly resolved.

The legislation, launched in response to a request from the King, is being fast-tracked through Parliament.

It is expected there will be overseas trips next year for the King, Queen Consort, Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales – and without a change, this could mean a lack of available stand-ins to act on behalf of the monarch.

Labour peer Viscount Stansgate welcomed the increase in counsellors but described the addition of two specific royals as a “quick fix” and suggested that a longer-term view was needed for deciding who should be appointed.

But Baroness Jones, of the Green Party, said the whole issue was “inconsequential to the lives of people who are struggling”.

Counsellors of state can carry out constitutional duties such as:

There is already a legal requirement for a counsellor to be “domiciled in some part of the United Kingdom” – but this is being interpreted as including a “domicile of origin”, which would allow Prince Harry to continue.

An 18th Century law still prevents a Catholic from being a counsellor – and the Cabinet Office would not comment on how this could be compatible with other equality legislation.

The legislation will move on to its next stages later this week – with the government not expected to accept the proposal to exclude Prince Andrew and Prince Harry.

Queen Elizabeth II’s close confidant has made big claims about Prince Harry and Meghan’s relationship, saying it would ‘end in tears’.

Lady Susan Hussey – who had a strong bond with the late monarch, once warned the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s relationship would “end in tears”, a royal expert has claimed.

The 81-year-old, who served the Royal Family for decades, made the comments about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry prior to the couple’s marriage in 2018 during a dinner with some theatre executives.

“While discussing the possibility that Meghan might become linked with the National Theatre after the wedding, Hussey became unexpectedly serious about the couple’s future. ‘That will all end in tears,’ she is alleged to have warned. ‘Mark my words,” Tom Bower has claimed.

Some other royal experts believe that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are not on the same page on many points, including their upcoming projects and interviews about the royal family.

Harry, as per experts, still has good feelings in his hearts about his royal relatives, including his father King Charles and brother Prince William, and wants to return to the Firm to spend times with their own people, but he has to hide his emotions from all as his wife Meghan thinks differently on this.

The 2022 CMA Awards have come and gone, and Carrie Underwood fans were left fuming after hearing the results for the most coveted win of the night.

Since the country music star won American Idol back in 2005, she’s received a multitude of accolades. But there’s one award she has never won, despite receiving four nominations for it six years in a row: Entertainer of the Year at the CMA Awards. While folks had had high hopes that the “Demin & Rhinestones” singer would finally be named the winner at this year’s ceremony, the results unfortunately didn’t go in her favor.

For the second year in a row, Luke Combs was named CMA’s 2022 Entertainer of the Year. As he took in the news, the camera also caught Carrie’s reaction for a quick moment. Instead of looking upset, she handled the loss with grace and simply clapped for her fellow nominee’s victory.

Though the “Before He Cheats” artist didn’t have the best of luck this go-around at the CMA Awards, she had a legion of fans in her corner. Many immediately reacted to the news on Instagram and they weren’t happy.

“CMA, WHAT do you have against the best entertainer in country music?! Carrie Underwood has sold out concerts all over the country, a Las Vegas residency, new music and yet she was totally ignored AGAIN! Unbelievable,” one person wrote in the comments. “You were robbed once again!!! Maybe next year they’ll get it right 🙏 🙌,” another follower assured the musician. “Not sure what happened but you deserved to win entertainer of the year and female [vocalist]!” a different person noted, referencing her other loss to Lainey Wilson for 2022 Female Vocalist of the Year.

Instagram wasn’t the only place where folks were livid over Carrie’s turn of events. On Twitter, one user agreed that the night would’ve been different “if [the CMA] actually let her win EOTY for once.”

At least viewers had the chance to see the singer in her rightful element, as she performed three times over the course of the awards show, including her latest single, “Hate My Heart.”

We can all agree on one thing: Carrie is truly a music star, with or without an Entertainer of the Year award in her arsenal.

Prince Harry-Meghan Markle: Lady Susan Hussey offered her view on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s relationship ahead of their wedding in 2018.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s marriage will end in tears, late Queen Elizabeth II’s Lady-in-Waiting said. Lady Susan Hussey who spent over six decades of her life in royal service offered personal insight into Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s relationship.

In Tom Bower’s book ‘Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War between the Windsors’, Lady Susan Hussey offered her view on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s relationship ahead of their wedding in 2018.
Lady Susan is said to have made the comment a few months before the couple married.

“While discussing the possibility that Meghan might become linked with the National Theatre after the wedding, Hussey became unexpectedly serious about the couple’s future. ‘That will all end in tears,’ she is alleged to have warned. ‘Mark my words,'” Tom Bower said.

Lady Susan was a treasured member of the late Queen’s inner circle and considered to be one of her dearest friends.
She was a long serving lady-in-waiting to Queen Elizabeth II but originally joined the royal household in 1960.

Tennis legend Serena Williams once had an awkward interaction after the Monaco Grand Prix main race. Known to be Lewis Hamilton’s best friend, the 23 grand slam winner had a cumbersome interview with Max Verstappen. Regarded as cringe-worthy, the interview was something Williams surely didn’t see coming.

As the 2021 Monaco race was concluded, David Coulthard was taking race winner Verstappen’s interview. While the interview was going on, Coulthard spotted Williams and invited her over for a chat. As the tennis star arrived, she was asked how did she feel about the Grand Prix.

Williams conveyed, “It’s such an amazing Grand Prix and it’s such a fantastic honor to be here as a fan and see such incredible athletes.”

What followed was quite bizarre from Coulthard, as he asked how attending an F1 race can help prepare for a tennis tournament. [Serena Williams had 2021 French Open upcoming]

The American star replied rather awkwardly, “We’re all training really really hard and it’s always good to see amazing athletes, and congratulations. So it’s always good to see and just be inspired really.”

When asked if she has any advice for Verstappen, Williams wrapped up the interview with, “I don’t think I’m in the position to give advice right now in this arena but you know good job to all the racers, I think everyone did really well.”

Serena Williams and Lewis Hamilton once triggered major dating rumors in 2016

Serena Williams and Lewis Hamilton are known to be good friends. The two global superstars have often been spotted together. However, there was one time when the pair shocked everyone with their actions.

Williams and Hamilton were seen holding each other’s hands at the Mexican Grand Prix, after Lewis’ win. Not only that, but the very next day, the two arrived at a Halloween party with Hamilton being the super recognizable Joker from the movie Batman, and Williams wearing an ’80s-styled workout outfit.

The duo was reportedly flirty and never left each other’s side the whole night. An insider from Heidi Klum’s party reported to Page Six, “They were super flirty. They didn’t leave each other’s side the whole night.”

Even though they were rumored to be dating, that was not true. Both Lewis Hamilton and Serena Williams have been close and supportive throughout. They are friends and there was no concrete evidence of them dating.
